作品以描绘个体精神诉求和社会性群体愿景为切入点,通过作品展示每个独立个体的身心现状和创作者的个人反思。作品借由描绘对象在特定的条件空间内的反应与变化,映射出相对内在,相对恒定,相对感性的思考空间;引导观者在潜意识里形成带入感和一定程度上的共鸣,唤醒人们重新思考自身的内在需求和生存现状,并正视自己身为社会成员的个体特殊性和互补性。

The artwork takes thedepiction of the individual~q~s spiritual appeal and the social group expectationas the starting point, through the artwork; it shows the physical and mentalstatus of each individual and the personal reflection of the creator. Bydepicting the reaction and change of the object in a specific conditional space,the work maps a relatively intrinsic, relatively constant, relativelyperceptual space of thinking. The artist hope to guiding the viewer to form asense of intrusion and a certain degree of resonance in the subconscious, andto awakening people to rethink their own inner needs and living conditions, inorder to face up to the individual particularity and complementarity of being amember of society.

周莹毕业于伦敦艺术大学中央圣马丁学院纯艺专业,其所品曾展于大英博物馆,回国后于各地展览绘画及摄影类作品。其作品擅长结合绘画与拼贴,二维与三维之间的转换,此次参展的“Illusion”系列主要是用立体主义风格描绘文艺复兴时期雕塑作品。

Ying was graduated in Fine Artmajor, from the University of the Arts in London, Central Saint Martins. Her artworkshave been exhibited at the British Museum; and after back to China, her paintingsand photography works went more popular in various exhibitions. Ying isinterest in combining drawing and collage, and make great transformationbetween 2D and 3D. The “illusion” series in this exhibition is mainly depictsthe Renaissance sculptures in a cubist style.

Leonard Cohen的诗歌FifteenPoems所呈现的十五首诗歌,皆为他漫长艺术(摇滚)生涯的灵感摘取,并首次为诗歌创作了激情而富有多样性的插画。

Fifteen Poems在很大程度上影响了我,并由此确定了这个作品的平铺呈现形式。日记式的隔断,在集成视觉上的情感强调,使我认为这是本次主题创作的理想呈现效果。

我希望能通过作品回应中国正在发展的当下。对作品审度是我对当下的反思和对未来的愿景。在作品中,我以一个旁观的角度,描述了记忆中关于中国画面重现,碎片式的主观认知和记录。社会发展的点点滴滴都以个体精神化的呈现方式,尝试着进行具象化的表达。对于在这片土地上奋斗的每个个体,所呈现的是剧烈而富有张力的;这种个体蓬勃的生命力,零零总总的汇聚成了中国来之不易的现今,也指引出梦想的未来。

The fifteen poems presented by LeonardCohen~q~s poet The Fifteen Poems, are the inspiration for his art (rock) careerfor a long time, and that is also the first time he created the passionate anddiverse illustrations for poetry.

Fifteen Poems has influenced me in a largeextent and has thus determined the tiled presentation of this artwork. The diary-style recording, the emotional emphasis on the integrated visual, makesme think that this is the ideal rendering effect of this theme creation.

Ihope that I can respond to the current development of China through the artwork.The personal understanding of the artwork is my reflection on the present andmy wish for the future. In the artwork, I describe the reappearance,fragmentary subjective cognition and recording of Chinese pictures in memoryfrom a bystander perspective. The bits and pieces of social development are allattempted to carry out figurative expression in the form of individualspiritualization. For each individual who was fighting on this land, it is fierceand tense; all the individual vitality, seen as the total, has become a hard-wonpresent for China and also guides the future of the dream.

现代人多用摄影去记录,后期加滤镜去展现,我创作这个系列第一幅作品的时候,是在大英博物馆做调研,观察到很多雕像和文物,但是当我之后回忆起这些物体的时候,是碎片化多面化甚至是糊的画面,于是有了创作这个系列的灵感。用素描去记录那些画面,如同拼贴,如同后期,如同加滤镜一样的方式去展现超越素描可以描绘的东西。也希望可以打破大众对于石膏素描很死板的想法,去发现更多可能性。

Modern people are more tend to usephotography to record, and add filters to improve the outcome. When I createdthe first artwork of this series, I did research in the British Museum andobserved many statues and artifacts; however, when I recalled these objects afterwards,the member of these object become fragmentation or multi-faceting or even pasteimage. So I was inspired by the idea. By using sketches to record thosepictures, and adding process like collages, like adding filters to show whatcan be portrayed beyond sketches. I also hope that we can break the gypsum understandingby the public and find more possibilities.

周莹的作品注重纹理和光线的细节,达到了近乎完美的照片写实绘画效果。受启发于Cezanne的作品“A Plaster Cupid”,她用精细的铅笔笔触和微妙的阴影变化,刻画所描绘的雕像的轮廓。看似随意的线条对描绘对象进行切割和重组,她的作品呈现了一系列的视角,并将主体作为一个倾斜的复合体。虽然隐藏了很多形体细节,但是少数放大的局部显得更为错综复杂且富有表现力; 通过这种方式,Ying的创作主题也与Ariane Laroux对Michel Thévoz的肖像作品交相呼应(由大英博物馆策展人Rebecca Birrell撰写)

Ying’s attention to the minutiae of texture and lightachieves an almost photo – realistic finish. Inspired by Cezanne’s Study of a Plaster Cupid,Ying’s finepencil work and subtle shading impart upon their figure the contours ofstatuary. Cut and recombined along seemingly random lines, Ying’s figureembodies a series of glances, offering the subject as a composite of obliqueangles. Although much of the figure is concealed, the few magnified fragmentsare intricately detailed and expressive; in this way Ying’s subject also echoesAriane Laroux’s elliptical portrait of Michel Thévoz. Ariane Laroux的视觉表现给了周莹很大的灵感,两者对人体的细致观察和分析是相似的。Chiaroscuro描绘从额头到脸颊,仔细勾勒每个眼窝; 这个三维度产生提炼成了她的作品,因此作品中描绘了观察行径,详细的表现了视觉捕捉到的以及遗失的部分。“绘画的每一部分都像节奏一样漂浮在纸上”,她如此评论了Laroux的肖像,就像音乐作品是在反射背后的乐器一样。(由大英博物馆策展人Rebecca Birrell撰写)

The economy of Laroux’s visual vocabulary informs Ying’sother study, which is similarly concerned with acute observation and analysis ofthe human figure. Chiaroscuro delineates the face from forehead to cheek,carefully contouring each eye socket; at the mouth this three dimensionalityyields to an abbreviated structure. Ying’s study thus traces the act oflooking,detailing where attention fixes and
